IBM (Lenovo) Thinkpad T60
Preamble
I barely remember how I got this laptop; probably found dirt cheap on ebay and somehow managed to receive it here1.
Back in 2023 I used this laptop for the Old Computer Challenge.
Hardware
Couple of years ago I’ve tried to upgrade it with a 64bit Core2Duo CPU but sadly the motherboard edition in this version of laptop does not support these processors. Would be a great x86-64 machine, but alas. Still cool that it is not soldered down to the motherboard here.
It has 2x2gb modules of RAM installed but because of chipset limitations only 3 gigabytes are usable, regardless of OS or using/not using PAE or anything else.
I love the 4x3 aspect ratio screen and the resolution always felt quite enough to me.

Software
I’ve used Debian Bookworm here the majority of time, but about a month ago installed 9front that works pretty great. The initial plan was to dive into this OS and I had a great time for couple of days, but then life got little bit hectic and I’m still trying to come back to it.

Since I’m on an island shipping stuff that includes batteries here proved to be somewhat challenging. ↩︎
